After much preparation the week of Thanksgiving arrived. Dan and I went off to Kansas and Leslie's wedding proceedings began!
We started with a luncheon hosted by our mother's bridge group.

I knew most of the attendees, they've didn't all have children who were my age, but they've been my mother's friends for years.

My mother at right, friend Ruthie to her left. We can see half of Nancy, a friend of my sister's who is not only a minister but a County Comissioner. Nancy came to Leslie's rescue last year when our Aunt Gino passed away and needed to be buried on an incredibly cold day.

Several days after the luncheon we had Thanksgiving.
By this point members of the wedding had begun arriving. At left, sister Leslie, wedding guests, the groom, and husband Dan.

Son Scott wouldn't arrive until later.
Thanksgiving Eve we had a small gathering for wedding guests who arrived during the afternoon. I made a winter salad from Martha Stewart Living.
With Thanksgiving done it was onto the Groom's Dinner.
There wasn't a rehearsal because the chapel on campus couldn't be opened until the day of the wedding. So we just had the dinner.
The dinner was held in an "event" space that had a rustic feeling in an old stone building. The day was not extremely cold, but the space was chilly because of the attached kitchen. Once everyone got going it didn't matter.
The "don't spit on the sidewalk" bricks are famous around Lawrence.
A few were incorporated into the wall.
The day was very busy and unfortunately punctuated by someone backing into my mother's car. Not too much damage was done, but it wasn't anything we needed.
Despite the fender bender we had a lovely evening meeting out of town guests and members of the wedding party.
