Watch Your Step

We went to a Blue's Festival in our town this weekend.  It wasn't the biggest or the most comfortable festival but it had an interesting performer. The 3-minute video tells the story about how his riffs got into Beatles tunes.

This was one of those events that the downtown association runs.  It draws people into the area, where like us, they shop, eat, drink and catch some music. The day was perfect with clear skies and temperatures in the low 80s.

I resisted the shoes at the nearby DSW, so no shoe pictures.

The seating isn't perfect. Originally we were right in front of the stage, but my ears can't take the sound.  Most of the revelers dancing up front had ear-plugs.

We headed to the second level. The chain restaurants and shops are on the first level but as this area has solidified the second level supports  local places. We had Thai.  Next door is a Vietnamese restaurant with an excellent crepe.  This time I had chicken with peanut.

Here we're settling up and ordering another drink so as to sit a bit longer.   As the show got closer we left and went to the lower level.

The sun went down and the stairs to the second level filled up with people about our age who'd come to see Bobby Parker. Sometimes this area is full of young people, late at night kids invade, but tonight it was ordinary middle-aged people who like the blues.

Bobby Parker from afar.  He's not very tall, the sparkly hat made him easier to pick out.
